Home Remedy for Flu

If you’re looking for a cheap, easy home remedy for flu (and cold!), this is it! 😀

Baking Soda, also known as Sodium Bicarbonate, is derived from a naturally occurring mineral and is one of the safest substances around.  Since baking soda is extremely alkaline it will alkalize the entire system, reducing acidosis systemically.

It works to balance your body’s pH levels by neutralizing any acidity. This helps maintain the pH balance in your bloodstream.  In, “Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Medical Uses,” published in 1924, Dr. Volney S. Cheney recounts his clinical successes with sodium bicarbonate in being a home remedy for flu and cold cases:

“In 1918 and 1919 while fighting the ‘flu’ with the U. S. Public Health Service it was brought to my attention that rarely anyone who had been thoroughly alkalized with bicarbonate of soda contracted the disease, and those who did contract it, if alkalized early, would invariably have mild attacks.  I have since that time treated all cases of ‘cold,’ influenza and LaGripe by first giving generous doses of bicarbonate of soda, and in many, many instances within 36 hours the symptoms would have entirely abated.  Further, within my own household, before Woman’s Clubs and Parent-Teachers’ Associations, I have advocated the use of bicarbonate of soda as a preventive for ‘colds,’ with the result that now many reports are coming in stating that those who took ‘soda’ were not affected, while nearly everyone around them had the ‘flu.’

Cheney also stated that those who took daily doses of baking soda on his advisement as a home remedy for flu, reported that they were among the few that didn’t get the flu when it rampaged through their schools.

As flu season runs rampant around here, this would be nothing short of a miracle according the the staff at my son’s school! So many kids have been sent home sick this week, that the last day or two has been VERY close to not even counting as a calendar school day! That’s a LOT of kids with the flu.

We all know how contagious it is. Just imagine if everyone knew that something so common and inexpensive (that they probably already have on their shelf at home) can assist in alkalizing the body as a home remedy for flu and colds! It’s amazing that it even works to cut down on the sick time if you start taking it once symptoms hit!

How To Use Baking Soda as a Home Remedy for Flu and Cold

In 1922, people knew about this household trick, but it’s been forgotten by our modern society. People tend to think new is better, but that’s not always the case.

The method is very easy and safe.  You just need to dissolve the recommended amount of baking soda in a glass of cold water and drink it.  This is the method documented by the Arm & Hammer Company for colds and influenza back in 1925.
Day one: Take a total of six doses of half a teaspoon of baking soda in one cup of water. Take at two hour intervals.

Day two: Take a total of six doses of half a teaspoon of baking soda in one cup of water. Take at two hour intervals.

Day three:  Take only two doses — one in the morning and another at night.

Continue taking one dose in the morning until illness is cured.

If you want a natural solution, that packs nutrition in AND alkalizes your body, read about Greens here.
